Sebastian Vettel has branded the FIA’s decision to ban Formula 1 drivers from making alterations to their helmets as “a joke”.
Drivers were officially prohibited from changing their helmet designs over the course of a season yesterday, meaning that they are forced to race with a fixed design to avoid facing a form of punishment.
Former F1 drivers took to social media last month to voice their opinions in light of the newly-written regulation for 2015, and current Ferrari driver Vettel who had already taken his turn by declaring he would change helmets should the punishment be a fine donated to charity, spoken out once more about the rule.
“I think it’s a joke to be honest,” he said, and added that “There are more important things to decide for the future and that seems to be the only one they can conclude on.”
