Ferrari target Verstappen to replace Raikkonen for 2017

After what has been an impressive season for rookie Max Verstappen, it is believed that Ferrari are considering signing Dutch driver for 2017 as a replacement for Kimi Raikkonen, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

With the weak performances of the Renault-powered teams so far, Red Bull might be changing to Mercedes engines next year and it is possible Ferrari will power Toro Rosso – as they did from 2007-2013.

We could potentially see a second year of preparation for the 17-year old Dutch driver at Toro Rosso before taking over Kimi Raikkonen’s seat for 2017.

Although Bottas or Hulkenberg have failed to confirm rumours around a possible move to the Italian team, the youngest Formula One driver ever can be targeting his place at Ferrari, if he continues to bring home some good results.

However, this has yet to be officially confirmed and is only speculation. Despite Renault’s disappointing performances, it is not certain that Toro Rosso will be changing their engine suppliers.
