Grosjean now a strong contender for Haas seat

Romain Grosjean is now a late strong contender for one of the Haas Formula 1 seats next season, amid strong speculation that Lotus will either fall into administration or a deal with Renault won’t happen.

The Frenchman put in his best performance with a third place at the Belgian Grand Prix, without standing on the podium since late 2013, reminded people of his pace and skill.

Grosjean has also made clear that he’d like to be apart of the new Renault team if it takes over Lotus, the ongoing discussion between both parties have left him looking elsewhere.

According to Motorsport.com, with no guarantee of a Renault takeover, Grosjean has been in negotiations with debutant Haas for a drive in 2016.

Haas has kept on saying that they are looking for two experienced drivers, and with Grosjean’s recent performances and form and the basis that he is a current driver with experience, has left him as a clear target for a seat.

Current drivers pushing for a drive with Haas are Jean-Eric Vergne, Esteban Gutierrez and Kevin Magnussen – although none of the three have been racing this season.
