Massa disappointed with retirement in Austin

Felipe Massa was left disappointed after being forced to retire from the United States Grand Prix after a collision on the first lap eventually led to him retiring during the race.

After his intial collision, Massa battled his way back through the field, eventually getting back into points scoring positions, partly due to other cars retiring.

After the race, Massa said he was disappointed to have retired:

“It was a disappointing race. The first corner was very difficult with many things happening. I was involved in an accident which damaged the right side of my car. I carried on and was catching the cars in front but we had a problem with the damper, on both cars actually, so we had to stop.”

He also commented on the overall weekend for Williams, as his team-mate was also forced to retire:

“It’s not a nice weekend for all of us, so we need to concentrate on the next one.”
