Kvyat: Our plan worked

Daniil Kvyat recovered from a disappointing qualifying position of 15th to finish seventh on Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix.

“I would say it was a good race. It was not easy at the beginning, we had to take care of the tires, but then our plan worked, allowing us to have a strong finish,” the 21-year-old said.

“I think the reason why it was a bit difficult in the beginning was because we were, obviously, pushing on our stints longer than others so that’s why it might have looked difficult, but it was all quite in line with the expectation in the end.

“I think it was a very good recovery from yesterday.

“All in all a good call from the team on strategy. Every time we caught traffic we saw the opportunity and went for it. I had good fun – that’s the most important, to be honest!”

Daniil’s six points are his first of the season and lift the Russian to 10th in the Drivers’ Championship.
