Qinghua replaces Duran at Team Aguri

Team Aguri have announced they are to replace Salvador Duran after just three races with Chinese driver Ma Qinghua for this weekend’s Paris ePrix.

The former Caterham and HRT test driver, WTCC race winner, and A1 GP driver has a deal signed which will see him compete for the rest of the season with the team, alongside race winner Antonio Felix de Costa.

“Joining Team Aguri is a great opportunity for me and I am very excited to be racing in Formula E, as the series has attracted some of the best drivers from around the world,” Ma comments in response to his appointment.

“I’m looking forward to racing in a single seater series again and to managing the unique demands of a Formula E car, which is renowned for its handling and energy management demands.”

It is the second time this season Duran has left a team in Formula E. He was first appointed to drive for the ill-fated Trulli team, before defecting back to his former team at Aguri where he replaced Nathanael Berthon, who drove in the first three races of this season.

Team Aguri is going through a period of change ahead of season three, with Aguri Suzuki leaving the team and Chinese backers close to a deal to take over the outfit.
