Palmer pleased with Renault progress

Jolyon Palmer is pleased with Renault’s improvement in form after teammate Kevin Magnussen picked up the French manufacturer’s first points of 2016.

Palmer went from 18th on the grid to finish 13th, whilst Magnussen progressed from seventeenth to seventh. Although the Brit has once again been out-qualified and out-raced by his teammate, the rookie is feeling more positive about the team and the car.

“It’s great for the team to get our first points of the season and I’m pleased that we’re making genuine progress with the car. Kevin showed what is possible today so that’s a good target for the next races. Overall we’ve learnt a lot of positives this weekend so I feel there’s a lot to build on for the races ahead.”

Renault changed the floor on Palmer’s car ahead of the weekend, which seemingly contributed to the upturn in form from the 25-year-old. He will be hoping that the team can develop the RE16 quickly in order to help him score the first points of his Formula One career.
