Nasr: Two stop strategy the wrong choice

Felipe Nasr believes that the two-stop strategy that his team placed him on was wrong because he could not keep the pace up, he finished the Spanish GP in 14th.

The Brazillian admitted that the weekend was a “difficult one” despite starting the race well and then managing to gain some positions on the first lap.

“It was a difficult weekend. I had a good start to the race, and I was able to gain some positions on the first lap.

However, the Sauber driver thinks that his team should’ve changed from their initial strategy of a two-stopper to a three-stopper because he could not keep up the pace adding that the stint on the medium tyres was ‘too long’ which subsequently lost him all the positions he had gained at the start of the race.

“I was surprised we did not change from our initial plan – a two-stop strategy – to a three stop strategy. I do not think the two stop strategy was the right choice, as I could not keep up the pace. The stint was too long on the medium tyres, and I lost all the track positions I gained at the beginning of the race.”
