Rosberg crowned 2016 F1 champion in Abu Dhabi

Nico Rosberg has been crowned world champion after finishing second at the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, behind Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.

In an intense battle which went down to the final lap, Rosberg hung onto second despite intense pressure from Sebastian Vettel, who finished third and Max Verstappen who came home fourth. Hamilton backed Rosberg up as much as possible but it wasn’t enough for the Brit to secure his fourth crown.

Daniel Ricciardo came home fifth ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. Nico Hulkenberg finished seventh in his final outing for Force India whilst Sergio Perez held Felipe Massa off for eighth. Fernando Alonso rounded out the top 10.
