Morbidelli takes pole as Cortese impresses on home turf

Franco Morbidelli took pole position for tomorrow’s German Moto2 race, just pipping teammate Alex Marquez to pole position.

Morbidelli put in a last gasp effort in improving conditions to take pole from his teammate, as the pair battle it out for the Moto2 world championship. Marquez will start from second place.

Sandro Cortese, who has had a tough season so far this season, will start from third on the grid for his home GP. Mattia Pasini heads row two, with Hector Garzo, replacing the injured Xavi Vierge, starting from fifth. Miguel Oliveria was sixth after being on top before conditions began to improve.

Tom Luthi was seventh, with Simone Corsi eighth. Rookies Fabio Quartararo and Francesco Bagnaia ninth and tenth. Hafizh Syahrin will start from eleventh with Axel Pons starting from twelfth.

The Moto2 race will start at 11:20 BST from the Sachsenring circuit in Germany. Follow all the action here at ReadMotorsport.
