Gasly replaces Buemi for New York ePrix

Reigning GP2 Series champion and Red Bull Formula 1 reserve driver Pierre Gasly will replace Sebastien Buemi at this weekend’s Formula E New York ePrix.

Reigning Formula E champion Buemi is unable to partake in this weekend’s event in New York due to a clash with the FIA WEC Championship at the 6 hours of Nürburgring.

The Swiss driver currently holds a 32-point lead over Lucas di Grassi in the drivers’ championship, while Renault e.dams has a 58 point lead in the teams’ championship.

“I deeply regret this clash between the WEC and FE which could have been avoided,” said Alain Prost, four-time F1 champion and co-owner of the team.

“However, we have to move forward and we are very pleased to welcome Pierre Gasly. Racing in New York is going to be a challenge as he makes his Formula E debut at the end of the championship. But looking at our preparation, we are confident and our goal remains the same, to score the maximum points to strengthen our lead in the championship.”
