Renault junior Aitken to race for ART in 2018 F2 Season

Renault Formula 1 junior Jack Aitken will make the step up from GP3 to Formula 2 in 2018 with ART Grand Prix.

After a very successful 2017 GP3 season, finishing in second place behind fellow ART driver George Russell, Aitken will continue his affiliation with the French outfit in F2.

Aitken had just a solitary race win last year in the Hungary feature race but amassed six podiums over the course of the season on his way to second in the drivers’ championship.

Aitken’s team-mate for next year is yet to be confirmed. George Russell is the favourite for the seat as he impressed during his GP3 campaign, winning the championship by almost 80 points.

Aitken was also announced as the headline of Renaut’s 2018 young driver class. Aitken will be joined by names such as 2017 Formula 2.0 Champion Sacha Fenestraz and Brit Max Fewtrell who came sixth last season.

Highly touted Danish prospect Christian Lundgaard will stay with the academy for another season as he graduates to Formula Renault 2.0.

Last year’s French Formula 4 Champion Arthur Rougier joins the programme and will also be making the step up to Formula Renault 2.0 with Fortec.
