Pulcini returns to Campos for second season in GP3

Italian Leonardo Pulcini will return to Campos Racing for a second season in GP3, reuniting with the team that took him to the 2016 EuroFormula Open title.

Pulcini beat current European Formula 3 driver Ferdinand Habsburg to the championship and progressed to GP3 last year with Arden.

Though his season started strongly with a second place on his maiden outing. He added just two further points to his tally, finishing a lowly 14th in the drivers’ championship.

Pulcini tested with Campos in GP3’s post-season test, topping the timesheets on Friday afternoon.

“I’m extremely proud and happy to be back with Campos Racing,” Pulcini said.

“They are a very important team for my career because I learnt everything in racing with them. I’ve already won with Campos.

“It’s my racing family for sure. I know they all are looking forward to helping me. We have put together everything and we approach a decisive season.

“I think we have a competitive package to be in contention for wins. We tested in Abu Dhabi and the car was rather competitive.

“Their working method is great and I feel confident. I’m ready to start the season in style.”

Pulcini will join the already-announced Simo Laaksonen at Campos, the Finn finished sixth in EuroFormula Open last season.

Campos team boss and founder Adrian Campos made his title aspirations clear.

“We are happy to welcome Leo at Campos Racing once again,” he said.

“He’s a very talented driver. We expect a lot from him and our goal is to repeat our previous success together.”

Pulcini is the ninth confirmed driver, following MP Motorsport’s announcement on Friday.
