  • NASCAR completely devastated following the sudden passing of Kyle Busch.
  • Drivers share emotional tributes honoring the legendary two-time Cup champion.
  • The racing community rallies to support the heartbroken Busch family.

NASCAR lost one of the most powerful drivers to ever strap into a stock car, and the entire garage now finds itself reeling from a punch that landed out of nowhere.

The sanctioning body confirmed the news through its official X account, writing:

“We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport’s greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old. We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing, and the entire motorsports community.”

While many fans admitted they still could not bring themselves to believe the news, calling it unreal and impossible to process, drivers and teams from every corner of the garage closed ranks to mourn the loss of the winningest driver in NASCAR history.

NASCAR stars share emotional tributes after the passing of Kyle Busch

Many drivers first turned their thoughts toward the family Busch leaves behind, including wife Samantha Busch, son Brexton, daughter Lennix, and brother Kurt Busch. But beyond prayers and condolences, several drivers also opened the scrapbook on memories they had with Busch, whether as rivals trading blows on track or as friends away from the spotlight.

Busch’s latest rival, Denny Hamlin, who found himself in Busch’s crosshairs last month after comments surrounding Busch’s form and future ride options, reshared NASCAR’s tribute post on X and wrote, “Absolutely cannot comprehend this news. We just need to think of his family during this time. We love you KB.”

Meanwhile, Mark Martin wrote, “I’m in shock and speechless.”

Busch’s former rival, Brad Keselowski, posted, “Absolute shock. Very hard to process. Hug your loved ones.” Later, Keselowski returned with another message, reminiscing on how their rivalry sharpened both careers while iron continued to sharpen iron. He wrote,

“I made him earn every victory and stole a few from him along the way. We took our shots at each other, in the media and on the track. But I’d like to think that somewhere deep down there was an appreciation that we pushed each other to perform at the highest level, even if neither of us would’ve admitted it.

“Tonight, I feel a little like the coyote with no more roadrunner to chase. His loss is all of our loss, but none more so than his family’s. Thinking of Samantha, and Brexton and Lennix who lost their father today.”

“One of the absolute greatest of all time”

Clint Bowyer also took to X with a tribute that showed the disbelief moving through the garage. He wrote, “I just talked to him Friday.  In complete shock, as we all are.  The devastation and sadness is beyond words.  Praying for Samantha, Brexton, Lennix, his entire family and loved ones…🙏”

Meanwhile, Chase Briscoe, who battled Busch door-to-door at Darlington during the 2020 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race, shared a detailed tribute reflecting on both competition and friendship. He posted,

“This doesn’t even feel real typing this… Easily one of the absolute greatest of all time, any track, any car, it didn’t matter he was gonna be good. Getting to race against Kyle was a true pinch me moment, I’ll never forget the first time just sharing the track with someone I had so much respect for.

“Two of my favourite wins of my entire career came going head-to-head against KB, and what made them so special was the fact that I was racing against KB, someone who I considered one of the all-time best. Getting to know Kyle throughout my NASCAR career has been a highlight for me.

“Whether I was racing door to door with him or talking to him about Samantha, Brexton, and Lennix and what all they had going on I always had to tell myself how cool it was I was getting to be around one of my heroes.

“I’m gonna miss everything about “KFB” and I can assure you no race I run from now on will ever feel the same because the impact Kyle Busch left is unlike one any other driver could ever have. Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Busch family and all of Rowdy Nation. Godspeed KB.”

“Lifting the Busch’s up in prayer.”

Briscoe also resurfaced a memory from the 2020 Darlington race and reflected on how Busch and Samantha stood beside him and his wife during their miscarriage.

He captioned, “Six years ago to the exact day… I remember the day before when we went public with the miscarriage, finally realising what people meant by how big a family the racing community is, and I remember the Busch’s reaching out because of how close to home it was for them. Lifting the Busch’s up in prayer.”

Daniel Hemric shared, “No words, literally nothing…… “ while Kenny Wallace wrote, “Sigh 😔. Myself along with everyone are shocked and trying to make sense of the sudden passing of @KyleBusch .  My prayers to his wife, Samantha and children.”

John Hunter Nemechek also reflected on Busch’s impact on his life and career, writing, “It’s hard to put into words what Kyle Busch has meant to me throughout my life and my career. From the time I was young, Kyle believed in me, gave me opportunities, pushed me to be better, we had so many hard fought battles, and always someone I could lean on. He’s been more than a mentor to me. He’s been a longtime friend and someone I’ve looked up to for so many years.

“Some of my favorite memories in racing and in life are because of him, and I will always be grateful for the impact he’s had on me both personally and professionally. He always been there for me no matter what the circumstances may have been. Right now, my thoughts and prayers are with Kyle, Samantha, Brexton, Lennix, the entire Busch family, and everyone who loves him. I’m asking everyone to keep the Busch family in your prayers and respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Ahead of the Charlotte weekend, Joey Logano appeared shaken during a scrum interview and admitted the loss had left the garage stunned. He said, “Heart broke, I guess would be the one thing and very surprised I’m sure the whole industry is right now. Kyle and I have been tough competitors, right? We didn’t see eye to eye on everything, but there was a mutual respect for each other’s talents and what he’s been able to do in our sport. I mean, the bottom line is he is one of the best drivers to ever sit in a race car. And he impacted our sport in so many ways.”

Logano continued, “Such a huge personality. It’s a really big reminder of how fragile life is. Because, honestly, I mean, he won the race last week. He won the truck race last week. And this week we don’t have Kyle anymore. And I’m shell-shocked. I don’t even know really what to say.

“My heart goes out to his family. You know, our community is pretty tight, right? Like I said, we compete against each other and those type of things. But our kids play together on the weekends, right? Like, you know their family, you know their personal side, and it’s, I guess it’s heartbreaking thinking about what they’re going through right now at this moment.”

“We had planned to meet up”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. also revisited the complicated road he and Busch once travelled before eventually burying the hatchet.

He wrote, “Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years. But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better terms. But it was he who made the effort for that to be possible.

“We did some media together also to laugh through some of the things we put each other through many years ago. Most recently we had even been discussing him running my Late Model at Wilkesboro this summer. He seemed extremely happy and we had planned to meet up next Thursday to get his seat to the shop. He laughed over the idea of his fans and JRM fans having to cheer in unison during that race.”

Dale Jr. continued, “Kyle was one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. No one can deny that. But he was also a father, a husband, brother, son, and a friend to many. My heart is broken for the Busch family. I will never be able to make sense of this loss but I am thankful that we had found a way to become friends.”

As fans continue trying to process the news, the NASCAR garage now finds itself carrying the weight of one of the sport’s deepest losses since the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr. in 2001. The losses, aggressive passes, rivalries, boos, celebrations, and radio feuds suddenly feel smaller today.
